Huh.

I wrote Nick/Sara. Yes, I'm just as surprised as you all are.

No spoilers, no particular rating (so we'll say G) and

The way Nick figures it, he and Sara fall into the category of "one of those things which don't make sense until you look back."

Of course, he'd given her a second look when she arrived in Vegas (and a third look, and a fourth look, and quite possibly a fifth look too), because really, what man wouldn't? But she'd put up the off-limits signs pretty quickly and taken to making eyes at Grissom, and so Nick had put her aside and moved on. He personally didn't think Grissom would be any good for her - or that he'd ever take his head out of his ass long enough to notice her - but he wasn't going to stand in her way.

Besides, there was something scary about the prospect of getting in Sara's way. Could be dangerous.

And so, for years, she was just a co-worker.

And then this happened.

Nick's still not too sure exactly what this is. Maybe it'd make more sense if he'd taken her out for dinner and they'd have one of those Defining the Relationship talks that women (in his experience, anyway) seemed so obsessed with. They've gone out for a few meals, always to one of those low-key neighbourhood restaurants that aren't likely to contain anyone they know, but The Talk has never come up and Nick's not the one to initiate it. He'd like to know; he just doesn't want to scare her off and he suspects any words that hint at "commitment" would probably make her turn tail and run.

He won't put any pressure on her. He doesn't want anything she's not comfortable with, and anyway, it just so happens that he likes the status quo.

And so he doesn't mention the fact that she hasn't set foot in her apartment for the last month. Not only has she been basically living with him, it appears that she's got enough stuff in his apartment to do so.

He doesn't mind. Definitely doesn't mind. It's nice to know that going home means to the same place, that if he wants some alone time all he has to do is go for a run, or go to the gym, and he can come home and find Sara curled up on his couch reading forensics journals.

It's nice not to be alone, and maybe that's what this is all about. Two lonely people coming together, blah blah blah - but he likes to think it's more than that. He likes to think it's about the way they can call each other on their crap; the way they gorge on icecream (straight out of the container, eaten with teaspoons) after a bad case, because even though it seems juvenile it stops them from reaching for alcohol; the way Sara stretches when she wakes up; the way he likes to just hold her and the way she lets him. He likes to think that maybe it has to do with nightmares and daydreams and the way you have to wake up from both of them, and it's always nice to have someone there when you do. He likes to think that it's because it feels like he's climbing out of a black hole and Sara's is the only hand he can reach.

He likes to think that it makes sense to her too.

Whatever it is.

Entitled "More Than Just a Science Nerd". I loved it and when I read it, it gave me such a deeper understanding of Sara and why it was that I admired her so much.

I have started a website, called "Forensic Files" dedicated to CSI and "Bones", and I wanted to post your blog essay, with your permission, giving you credit, of course.

Also, I'd love it if you could check the site out. And anyone else who's interested is more than welcome! I need more CSI people there.

Thanks for your brilliant observations, your insightful character analysis, and I look forward to getting to know you better soon!
