I've seen this going around and I'm better at talking about fic than actually, you know, writing it, so:

Day 1 – How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

Well, before I knew what fanfic was, I recall writing a Famous Five story in primary school, and I told myself a lot of Swallows and Amazons stories but never wrote them down. I liked the characters, I liked the source material, and I wanted more

The first fanfic I consciously wrote was for Blue Heelers - PJ/Maggie, of course. I was obsessed with that show and with Maggie and something just grabbed me about their chemistry, about the relationship that they had, and wanting more than what we saw on screen. There was a lot of hurt/comfort and a lot of car accidents. None of it ever made it online - thank goodness - but I'm embarrassed now to know that my parents probably knew about it and read it. It was on a family computer and I had no idea how to hide it.

(And what am I doing in between writing this? Writing PJ/Amy. Sorry, Mags.)

2 – Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.

Oh gosh. Okay.

Blue Heelers - lots, all of it unfinished. I'm not so much still writing in it as writing again, and believe me, it's a hell of a surprise.
Harry Potter - according to ff.net, seven posted fics and probably a few more unposted. Not still writing, and probably will never be.
CSI - many, many, lots. At least 45 (!) plus whatever's on LJ and never made it to ff.net. And no.
Medical Investigation - one fic posted, one unfinished and sadly lost in a hard drive crash epic OOC fluffy Stephen/Natalie fic, solely for my own benefit.
Lost - two or three. No.
Without a Trace - two or three. No.
Higher Ground - one. I may or may not be dabbling in a Higher Ground/Criminal Minds crossover (of the JJ-is-Shelby variety).
Eureka - one, and maybe.
The Unit - one, probably not. I've told the story I wanted to tell.
Firefly - four, more unfinished. Yes.
Stargate SG-1 - one posted, many more not. If I write in this fandom again it'll probably be the Jack/Sam/Daniel fic I started back when Sam was on Atlantis, and stopped writing when AT left SGA because a core bit of my plot fell apart.
Battlestar Galactica - two. I'd love to write more Racetrack, but I'm so disillusioned with canon that I may never get it done.
Numb3rs - one. No.
Alias - one. Not unless I finish the fic where Weiss ends up an IOA agent and meets Evan Lorne.
Criminal Minds - five posted, many more not, and whether I will write in it again depends on whether canon can suck me back in (my girls are back!) but I doubt it.

And fandoms I've dabbled in, now and in the past? Rescue Special Ops, Sea Patrol, ER, McLeod's Daughters, Buffy, Farscape, Bones, NCIS, Swallows and Amazons, the Chalet School, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Grey's Anatomy

3 – For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?

Blue Heelers - Maggie and Amy. Maggie because I loved her so much and wanted to be her, and Amy because she captivates me. Amy is also possibly the hardest character I've ever tried to write, because of her backstory. But oh, Amy.
Harry Potter - Katie Bell. There was enough Katie in canon for me to know I liked her, but little enough that I could really play in the wizarding world.
CSI - Sara and Nick. Funny that.
Medical Investigation - Natalie.
Lost - Kate.
Without a Trace - Sam.
Higher Ground - Hannah, and although nothing ever came of it, Sophie. I was surprised the first time I watched it that I was more intrigued by those two than by the kids.
Eureka - Allison.
The Unit - my one and only fic was focused around Serena Brown, with a good dose of Lissy. I find them more interesting than I found their parents, because those kids had no choice about the screwed up world they grew up in and were expected to be loyal to.
Firefly - Kaylee.
SG-1 - probably Daniel, with a side of Sam and Cam.
BSG - Racetrack. It's the same thing as Katie Bell, really. I felt a lot more ownership over the Racetrack I built up in my head than I do about fleshed out canon characters.
Numb3rs - I remember very little about that fandom, but Terry Lake, apparently, seeing as I wrote a fic about her.
Alias - Eric Weiss. Love him so so much.
Lost - Kate.
Criminal Minds - JJ and Emily. My beautiful, fantastic, awesome, ass-kicking girls.
Rescue - Lara. I may be the only person in RSO fandom who actually likes Lara at this point. I think I get her, and I want to make her happy (fictional character that she is).
Sea Patrol - Nikki, Nikki, Nikki. There's a bit of redemption there, too, about bringing back her confidence and joy and growing her from a talented if slightly immature young women into a competent and capable officer.
ER - Sam.
McLeod's Daughters - Kate.
Buffy - early Cordelia.
Farscape - Aeryn, Chiana.
Bones - Brennan.
NCIS - Gibbs, Kate, Abby.
Swallows and Amazons - Titty and Dot.
Chalet School - Margia
Criminal Intent - Alex
Grey's Anatomy - Addison. I loved her so, so much.
