Amanda Tapping. Guh. With the hair and the glasses and the flying? Yeah. Killed me. Also, I thought Sam's reaction to Jack's death was beautifully played. Oh, Sam. And Froot Loops! Sam bought Froot Loops!
When the captain of the Achilles started talking, I was all "Is that Ben Browder? That's not Ben Browder... no, wait." Sometimes I am a little slow on the uptake.
Oh, Daniel. "Depends who you ask." "Are there any grownups around?" I guess there wasn't time to show any reaction to, you know, losing a leg.
I think we need more Qetesh, although maybe in a dress that doesn't look like it's made out of sacks. She could totally rule the universe. Also, Claudia Black is awesome. If Sanctuary doesn't work out, I think Amanda and Claudia need to have a show where they're awesome and do awesome things. They can borrow Vala's really big gun from the Stargate props department.
System lords! I was so excited. I was all Cronus! and Nirrti! and Yu the Great! and Camulus! And who's the guy on the end? Obviously, I've never seen the original Stargate movie because it never crossed my mind that it could have been Ra until the credits. And bonus Apophis!
I am a little bit mystified by Ba'al's time machine, and why people started disappearing at different times, but then, you know, Stargate hand-wavy science, smile and nod.
And Cam. I heart Cam.
Also, Teal'c. "I die free." And I have a bomb! Because he's Teal'c and he's awesome. Of course he has a bomb.
I'm mostly still just "Oh, Sam." Because I love Sam.
There lies the port: the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toil'd, and wrought, and thought with me -
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads - you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begins to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
... don't ask. But I love my team.
