And this makes me want to hunt up the Coming of Age of the Chalet school, if not the whole series itself! Completely believable extrapolation, I loved the Chalet School being 'home' for her, and yes on the thinking of the escape from the Tytol as an adventure. I can just seeing her reading Nancy Meets a Nazi.
