I really, really like this story -- especially Kaylee's sense of responsibility about Serenity and how that translates into her sense of responsibility for *everything*, and how it takes her a while to figure things out but when she does she's so completely sure. And it's so nice to see all the other characters around the edges of the main story -- it feels just like the show in that way.
I especially like that first conversation between Kaylee and Inara, with Kaylee working on the shuttle; it's such a perfectly Kaylee bit of business, and you use it to show so much about her feelings for Wash and the ship in addition to her relationship with Inara and her feelings for Mal. Every word here feels important and exactly right. Lovely. Thank you.
