Oh, God. This was *wonderful*. Thank you so much for writing this, and I really apologise for how long it took me to read it! (Personal life is v. v. busy, I just started a new job.) I love how Cassie's this prickly young woman who is obviously smart and competent, but didn't know where she belonged even though she had a family and a home. But I suspect that's true of a lot of young people in their twenties, trying to find their place in the grown-up world, trying to find a purpose. I really love that moment when Teyla calls her "Dr Fraiser", which jarred me but in the best kind of way. I love that Cassie wants people to respect her experience, respect that she's an alien who has lived on other planets, and then discovers that living in a place like Atlantis where everyone knows about aliens and she doesn't have to lie is where she feels the most at home. Really, really beautiful. :)
If we were on DW, I would use my SG-1 kidfic icon. Instead, I will use my Stargate women icon. :D
