I love the pacing in this; you take your time and let things unforld in a way that's natural and in-character and believable, and the story is so much better for it. Your Kaylee-voice is spot on, and I love the way that Mal/Kaylee happens in the way that Mal.Kaylee should, soft and sweet but with that note of longing.

Also, you utilized Inara very well in this fic.
